  • Kalugumalai

    Kalugumalai got its name from the hill of the same name which translates to "Hill of Vultures." It is a small panchayat town of Thoothukudi district but is visually beautiful and has rich historical ties. It is believed to be an important Jain settlement where Lord Mahavir used to preach and be worshipped. A must visit for Jains. It is famous mainly for its rock cut Kalugasalamoorthy Temple, monolithic Vettuvan Koil and Kalugumalai Jain Beds.
  • Kalakkad Wildlife Sanctuary

    The Kalakkad Wildlife sanctuary is one of the few national parks in South India that house the Tiger. Lion tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, bonnet macaque, langur, Nilgiri tahr, sambar, sloth bear, gaur, elephant, flying squirrel, panther, wild dog and pangolin are some of the other animals found here.
  • Tuticorin Port

    V.O.Chidambaranar Port, formerly Tuticorin Port, is one of the 12 major ports in India. It was declared to be a major port on 11 July 1974. It is second-largest port in Tamil Nadu and fourth-largest container terminal in India.After Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project V.O.C Port will be India's premier port and one of the major ports of Asia equal to Port of Singapore. V.O.Chidambaram Port is an artificial port.This is the third international port in Tamil Nadu and its second all-weather port.
  • Kattabomman Memorial Fort

    The Kattabomman Memorial Fort was built by the Tamil Nadu Government in memory of the Freedom fighter Veerapandiya Kattabomma Karuthayya Nayakkar (also known as Kattabomman). He waged a war against the British in Tamil Nadu and died in the fight. The fort is a few kms off the city but is frequented by tourists who come to this region. It is beautifully made and well maintained.
  • Beach

    Tuticorin has so much more to offer than just the beach, it still is a beach town and not going to the beach might make you miss out on the fun. The beach, especially post sunset, is buzzing with people, both tourists and local residents. A lot of small vendors are selling different kinds of snacks, coconut water etc. The sunset at the Tuticorin beach is as mesmerizing as any other.

    Our Lady of Snows Basilica is one of the most popular places of worship in Tamil Nadu. It is a shrine dedicated to St. Mary and is inspired from the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. It is a stunning church and one of the biggest in all of Tamil Nadu. Tales of numerous miracles have been associated with this Church. Made in European Architecture, it takes influences from Rome and Italian styles. One of the most celebrated festivals, Our Lady of Snows Festival is celebrated in Tuticorin when devotees offer prayers and thanks to the Saint.
